Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati: A Lasting Glow

    

     Luciana knew her name was special, but she wouldn't fully grasp why until her summer with Grandma Laura in the mountains of Turin Italy. At first, she had doubts about spending a summer outdoors, away from her friends and hometown summer activities. In her skepticism, Luciana didn't know how she would feel about a quiet summer in the mountains. What could be so special about them? Her cynical heart was soon going to be very surprised by the things she discovered in this special place.                                                  

     Her Grandmother, Laura Hidalgo, once was in love with a young man named Pier Giorgio but their bond went deeper than that, they were also best friends. Pier Giorgio's sister, Luciana Frassati became like a sister to Grandma Laura. Laura's granddaughter was named after Luciana. Now you know how granddaughter Luciana came to carry her name.                                           

     Luciana was confused my her grandmothers love for a man that died so long ago. She was also perplexed by the way that she always lit up when talking about him. It seemed his life had this lasting glow, a sweet fragrance that had carried through the decades. Luciana's curiosity grew and she desired to understand why grandma wanted her to go to the Italian mountains. Why did grandma care so much about passing on the legacy of a man that lived such a short life.
